Difference between readymade and custom made furniture

FURNITURE

Lots of people are confused in terms of whether to go for ready made or custom-made furniture, wardrobes, modular kitchen, TV unit, etc. They often ask why custom-made furniture is costly compared to furniture which is available at furniture stores. We thought to cover up this topic to explain what are the major differences between ready-made and custom-made furniture.

To start with we should know what type of materials a carpenters use to make furniture:

1)      Particle board made of 70-80% as wood powder.

2)      Commercial ply(BWR plywood and MR grade plywood)

MR is moisture resistant while BWR grade is waterproof plywood. BWR is of better quality compared to MR grade.

Ready-made furniture which is available in the market is made from 80% particle board(board made of wood powder) The laminate used on it is 0.3 or 0.4 which is called as paper laminate and edge binding is done on the edges which is very thin. Most of the furniture that you see in any furniture store are made in their factories and most of them do not use commercial ply as the quantity they make is in thousands.

The furniture which a Carpenter makes is from commercial ply either BWR or MR ply. There is difference in price of both but the quality of furniture which a carpenter make is very good and durability for long time because of good quality of ply. And even you can choose the type of ply, color of laminate to make your custom-made furniture. Carpenters and Interior designers in India often refer to BWR grade plywood as Marine ply.

Difference between ready-made furniture and custom-made furniture.

Custom made furniture:-

  1. Design as per your choice:
  2. Custom made furniture last for longer time.
  3. Add more value to your home
  4. Maximize space
  5. The damage control with custom-made furniture is lower than with ready made furniture. Because of the used materials.

Ready-made furniture:-

  1. As the shopkeeper adds his profit margin on every individual item plus they don’t give any warranty or guarantee on the product.
  2. The ready made furniture doesn’t fit in our home properly
  3. As ready made furniture are made of particle board most of these are not water-resistant.
  4. Ready-made furniture does not last long if proper care not taken as its made of particle board which is just wood powder.

But at the end choose the furniture after proper research and decision because there are merits and demerits in both ready made and custom made furniture.

Tips to home office setup to maximize productivity:

designing-a-home-office-1

While there are countless ways to organize your workspace, and no hard and fast rules for doing so, it is still worthwhile to explore ways to construct your office setup to maximize productivity. Your workstation allows you to work freely and think creatively while saying much about your personality in the process.

Working from home usually calls for a lot of adjustments from a person who is used to working in a formal office environment. A home office that puts you in the mood to work and which is easy to use and maintain is the best way to be productive. And don’t forget your comfort. The more physically and mentally at ease you are in your home office, the more productive and creative you become.

Proximity:

Keep it simple. A clean simple office with lots of space to move around will not leave you feeling cramped. Make sure you put things that you need often near where you need them. For example, if you want to get print some documents don’t put your printer across the room. It needs to be out where you can easily get to it. The more effort it takes to do something the less often you will want to do it, so arrange your tools so it is easy to do your desired tasks.

 Bring in nature:

Spending long hours in an unnatural environment can be hazardous to your health. So use as much of nature as you can such as: Locating your office in a space with windows if possible. Consider nature photos to make your home office a more pleasurable place. Add real plants to have fresh oxygen in your work space.

Get good seating support

You may not think comfort and support matter to your productivity, because when engrossed with tons work we often forget about our comfort of work chair but that is exactly the reason why you should take note of your seating support if you are spending most of your time sitting on your chair when working.

Invest in better lightings

One of the elements that has a large impact on the overall appearance of your space, but is often overlooked it lighting. The exposure to natural light can boost your mood and improve your sleep patterns. In times of unfavorable weather or long working nights, it is essential to get some artificial lighting in your work space. Experiment with different intensities or light tones to find out which one works best for you. It’s also important to set up the lighting to reduce glare. Your desk lamp can use LED technology to consume less energy and be more efficient overall.

Managing your time

Keep specific times of day for checking your email, making phone calls, monitoring your accounts, and so forth. When you are on your own, it’s easy to lose track of time and become disorganized. Having a home office means you can be flexible with your work schedule when there is a reason for it, but to allow home time and work time to get mixed up means that both will suffer.

Keep your tech updated & reliable

If you’re going to be working at home most of the time, you’ve got to make sure that technology is your best accomplice. Chances are that you are holding on to your old devices and gadgets because they still work and you don’t find it economical to pay for an upgrade. Well, think about how much time you’ve wasted instead, trying to troubleshoot and fix them, plus the opportunity cost you’ve lost.

Inspire yourself:

This is perhaps the most fun aspect of decorating your home office – inspiring yourself. There should be some leeway on what you can place in your work space for that personal touch and inspiration to an otherwise, sterile office environment. You can place artwork, family photos, inspirational quotes, fresh flowers and lots more which will help you to lift your mood. Note that the purpose of these items or design is to help you sustain that positive mood and energy to work on your tasks.

Your home office has a big impact on your productivity, creativity, and energy levels. Clutter as well as an uninspired space can deter your business goals, so taking these steps to enhance your home office setup can help your feeling of personal success.

Choose the perfect coffee table

hemnes-coffee-table__0104030_PE250678_S4

A coffee table isn’t just a place to keep newspapers and remote controls. Instead, it forms the very heart of your living room. It defines the ambiance of the room and lends a definitive character to it. Coffee tables serve several purposes from completing a special look to your living room, to storage and display. But the question is which style will fit your living room? Should you go for a wood one with chunky legs, metallic with a glass on the top, should it be round or rectangular or any other shape? An ideal coffee table must strike a balance between functionality and aesthetics. At the same time, it must complement the general decor of the living room and blend in with other elements.

Below are some tips that will help you to choose the perfect coffee table for your living room.

1) Budget:

Decide how much you want to spend for a coffee table, because the price range of a coffee table can be from ultra expensive to budget friendly. Your budget could be based on types of materials such as hardwood, metal, glass and size, shape and design of the table.

2) Size and distance:

Size and distance of a coffee table matters most while deciding a coffee table for your living room. A regular coffee table height is usually between 16 to 18 inches. This should put the table at about the same height as the top of the sofa seat and chair cushions. It should be not lower than 1-2 inches from the seat of the sofa. The ideal distance of a coffee table should be close enough so that you could reach out to put your drink, magazine from all angles. Also keep in mind that you leave some space for passerby, to reach out to TV stand.

3) Shape:

While the shape of the room can play a role in choosing a coffee table, pay attention to your seating configuration more than anything else. If you have children at home a round or oval size coffee table is a smarter choice as it is safer for children if one falls or bumps into it. Also its useful for large gatherings. A rectangular share coffee table will allow some space between the TV and the coffee table to walk past.Rectaunglar or oval size coffee table is ideal for a smaller room.

4) Style and material:

Once you have zeroed in on a perfect size, focus on the material and style of the coffee table. Always your sofa and coffee table should strike a balance.Formal, informal, modern or vintage these are all styles to be considered when purchasing a coffee table. Coffee tables can be made using wood, chrome, plastic, glass, bamboo metal, and wood veneers. If you are looking for something stable and affordable, wood veneer would be an ideal choice. While wood brings warmth to a space, its heavy in nature so choose a narrow table which will not look bulky. You can try a metal coffee table if you have too much woods furniture in living room, so choose a glass table with a metal base cane be a nice complement.

The level of functionality your coffee table offers depends on how you want to use it. While most coffee tables have a flat surface supported on a base, there are plenty that offer additional features.

How to create a perfect reading room?

home-libraries-awesome-design1.jpg.pagespeed.ce.Mg8Wvi-V-P

My favorite room in my home to rejuvenate myself is the reading room. Because reading books is like you travel the whole world without even moving from your chair. So if you also enjoy reading, adding a reading room to your home can be the ideal way for you to get away from life. A reading room can be different types depends upon your requirement. It can be just a room to hold your books or can be also a place where you comfortable sit and read your books. Keep whatever style you find most interesting in mind, and create the room with these tips.

Choose the perfect furniture:

Choose the amount of space that you require sitting comfortably and reading your favorite book. So choose what kind of furniture you require for the room. How much space you require to put furniture? It is best to pick up a space that has enough room to put at least an arm-chair or a nice couch. Make sure you have some extra space if somebody wants to join with you in the reading room. One thing to remember about a reading room is that it can be anything you would like it to be.

 Lighting:

The perfect reading room should have proper lighting. Because the lighting needs to be comfortable enough to allow you to read well in the night as well. Also make sure there is ample natural light coming into the reading room. So that you do not need any special lights during day time and can save on your electricity bill as well.

 Colour scheme

The colours of the reading room are as important as other component like lighting and furniture. The colour of the walls, flooring, and other components in the room should set the tone for the space. Consider green, brown, and red. So chose a colour scheme that helps you relax.

Storage

The most important thing about reading room, you should have proper plenty of storage for the books you have and for the books that will buy in future. Because if you are an avid reader your book shelf will be small enough. So keep in mind how much books you require for the next 2-3 years and accordingly design your storage. You may wish to display some of your books, rather than simply tucking them away as well. Depending on your budget, you may want to consider having an entire wall of shelving or just one area. It may even be best to consider custom shelving options that fit the sizes and styles of books you have.

5 Secrets to make your living room beautiful

interior,red,contrast,design,interior,design,living,room-6acd9b81777912649e209eb0a3eed562_h

The living room, also known as sitting room is a room for entertaining adult guests, reading, or other activities and it must be spacious, well designed, with well-balanced colors and also has to have style. And this style comes in various shapes, from the modernist one which tries to be more and more minimalist, but uses furniture with contrasting colors in the room to the traditional interior designs which give the feeling of room crowding. Most of the examples presented below are modern but I left at the end a few living rooms designed with a traditional decor and furniture.

1. Create a Focal Point

Every living room needs an anchor or a place for your eye to rest, whether it’s a beautiful artwork, a cool light fixture or a nice view. This will help ground the room and define its function. If you don’t already have a natural focal point, you can create one by showing off your favorite item in the room. Draw attention to the farthest wall with an oversize piece of art or a decorative mirror. If it’s your family room, a flat-screen TV might take center stage. Or play up a statement sofa with bright pillows.

2. Soften Your Space

Your living room should feel inviting and like it’s “finished.” The last step is to add accessories.Include a few cozy accessories, like oversize pillows, a soft blanket over the arm of a couch or a sheepskin throw. And luxe up your lighting too. Rather than one high-voltage ceiling lamp illuminating the entire room, use a combo of floor, table, ceiling and wall lamps to make the space glow.

3. Create Layers of Light

Light layers should be placed to bounce illumination throughout a room and eliminate shadows from corners. In this living room, a burnished metal chandelier supplies overall light and visual interest. Twin sconces supply soft accent lighting and define the area around the fireplace and mirror.  A scrolling floor lamp offers task lighting for the seating area.

4. The bookshelves

The bookshelves were another focal point in the living room. Bookshelves is not just for books now days, you can decorate the bookshelves with various accessories too.And arrange the books as if the books looks lively so that anyone can not sit idle without looking at twice or touching the books.

5. Light and Airy

You can pack a lot into your living room—even a dining set—if you keep furnishings from weighing the space down. Lucile dining chairs, an open-weave coffee table, and an unobstructed wall of windows keeps this room from feeling cramped.

What to do before painting a wall?

Preparing a room before you start painting is the most important step before you even start painting. The actual painting of the walls takes less time and is not as important as the prep of walls for paint Also for a large paint job hiring the professional painter is a good option.

 Clear out the room:

The first step to prepare your walls to before painting is to clear out all movable furniture such as sofas, TV, etc.cover the large furniture’s with clothes to protect against splatter of paint. Removing these furniture’s will help you to paint your walls easier.

Clean the room and repair the wall:

Remove any dust from the floor and make sure repair any holes, peeling, cracks, on the wall before starting painting the wall.fill any nail holes, dents and allow it to dry for 2-4 hours and then second coat if required.also clean the wall that need to be painted and the surfaces of kitchen and bathrooms.

Taping and Masking:

Once your walls are clean, the next step to prepare walls before painting is to mask off any areas you don’t want painted.Mask light switches, windows, wood trim and other areas you are not painting. It is better to mask the room completely before painting as opposed to just doing one wall, then the next. Leave the masking tape on the walls after you have painted, and wait for the paint to dry before removing it.

Paint priming:

If you are merely refreshing your paint with the same color and type of paint, you do not need to apply a primer to the whole surface. If you have made small repairs, just spot prime the repairs before painting.

However, if you have made large repairs, it has been a long time since your last paint job, you are switching colors or type of paint or are painting bare surfaces, such as drywall, your paint job will turn out much better by applying a paint primer before painting.Paint primers mainly will help you ave money on paint including it even out repairs and defects if any.

Once you have followed the five steps to prepare your walls before painting, you are ready to paint! Although prepping your walls for paint can seem like a lot of work, the end result of a great paint job is worth the effort.
